A 53-year-old Heathridge man suffered serious head injuries when he fell out a window at a Cottesloe pub after allegedly being shoved by a South Australian tourist.

Perth City detectives have charged the South Australian, 28-year-old Matthew Angus Morran, with assault occasioning bodily harm over the incident.

Police will allege the 53-year-old told the younger man off after he flashed other revellers in the Ocean Beach Hotel front bar about 6.50pm last night.

The 28-year-old then shoved the older man in the chest so hard he stumbled backwards into his chair and fell out an open window, police alleged.

He fell more than a metre to the footpath, smacking his head and being knocked unconscious.

He was taken to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, where he is in a stable condition.

Mr Morran allegedly fled after the incident and was arrested at a nearby hostel.

He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Police said charges could be upgraded pending medical advice.
